Good afternoon. You're through to Steve at Bath Volkswagen. How can I help? Yeah. I phoned a little earlier. I wanted to find out a bit more detail about one of the cars you have, a Volkswagen
Polo.
Okay. Which one would that be, sir? It's the,
it's,
the 2023
one.
Okay. That's 14,000.
It's got a high mileage on it, 42,000
miles. Okay. Looking dead. Yep.
Okay. And what what do you need to,
know,
that that's not on the website? It's quite informative, but if there's anything else I can go and have a look and check. It doesn't mention the service history.
Oh, okay. But all our cars come with a know because it's such a high mileage, how many services it's had, whether it's been,
VW serviced, whatever whatever.
Alright. Okay. Let's have a look. So, what state we've got, you know, for, whether it's been recent if it has been recently serviced, where we are with tires,
brake pads, things like that. I don't know if you've got a record of that. No. Probably not on that, I'm afraid. But You won't have? Okay. No. But it says it's one owner. I mean, that's, like, that is one high mileage for
only a couple of years old.
Yeah.
So just, you know, it's just, interesting to really,
find out as much as I can about it because we don't live locally, but it's an interesting looking That's right. What we're we're trying to find a Polo in blue Yep. Yep. About that year. You know, possibly a couple of years older is what we've been looking at up till now with a lot lower mileage.
It's a case of saying, you know, do we look at this because it's,
you know, a high mileage and it's, in within you know, it's closer to the sort of money we wanted to spend.
Yeah. No. Absolutely. We've had a lot of people look at that today, and some coming back tomorrow to test dry. So Oh, okay. You know, it's it's our cheapest polo. A bit yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's It it is priced well in the market. But they had an oil service on the June 13 this year. Yeah. Interval inspection done as well. So a major service,
was was,
completed.
When it was sold in, the January 2023, it had a service,
in May 24
at 19,918
sales. Had inspection service,
on the 11/27/2024,
at 28,639
miles.
And then it's obviously had its inspection service, last month.
I see. Okay. So that's So it's got a full service issue with the car. We have customers that do higher mileage.
So that's why it's coming early because on a PCP, it wouldn't work that well. So they change a bit earlier.
Yeah. Yeah. I understand. So it's gone from November 24 at twenty six eight hundred
through till June 13. What was the mileage on June 13?
So June 13, I e, when it came in, was 42,402
miles. Oh, I see. Okay. So that's quite a lot then, isn't it? That's, 20 odd oh, it's 18,000.
I presume it had long life oil in it or something, did it? Because the service are less than that, aren't they?
Well, it's every year or 10,000 sales, hence why it had two services in 2024.
Right. Okay. Alright. And, can you tell me what the tires are, what what state they're in? Where where it's not where
Basically, all you would get is, on a multi point inspection that all cars have before they go out,
the tires will be a minimum three mil. Anything less, they get replaced.
Yeah.
But, yeah, that's Volkswagen standards. So,
they'll be three mil or above. Yep.
Bearing in mind, seven mil is a full,
brand new tire. Understand. So yeah.
Okay. Alright. Well, I might be more interested in finding out more about I'll I'll it's with my daughter, so I'll I'll let
her know where we are with that.
What else sales I think? What warranty will come with it?
A one year warranty. It's on the Volkswagen used car website,
and one year's roadside assistance. All the details are listed there and also on our website
Yep.
In terms of what you get when you buy a used car with Volkswagen UK. Yep. There are,
finance options at the moment with offers from Volkswagen Finance on, used cars doing PCP finance.
You can have an extended warranty of two years, extended roadside assistance to two years. Yep. Yep. Yeah. I'm aware that we we've looked at a few already, actually, so I'm probably aware of it. We we we live down in Portsmouth, so,
it's just this one popped up in the search engine, and it looks really interesting.
Okay. So that year's warranty, would that kick in after the manufacturer's
warranty on this one?
It it basically gets topped up to a year.
So if it's got six months less, they top it up to a year. A year and It won't get a year over and above the warranty that it has on it. Sorry?
It wouldn't have one year's warranty over and above another year's warranty.
We give one year's warranty.
So,

So in theory, it's got another six months out of, manufacturer's warranty.
That's right. So they top it up. So it completes a year. So it will be topped up from the January 30
to
the year it would expire if you were to buy it this month.
Okay. It will have one year's warranty, sir. It's basically the way you wanted it. If we bought it today, it would only have a year, not eighteen months.
That's correct.
I see. Okay. One of the attractions to me was that it would, could possibly have a longer warranty because I thought it would kick in at the end of the manufacturers.
No. That's not how it works, unfortunately,
for Volkswagen UK.

I assume it hasn't got a spare wheel. I I think I couldn't see that on the details.

No. So it had navigation added to it and front and rear parking sensors, which were over and above the standard car. Yeah. And cruise control. Yeah. Yeah. Understand.

Oh, right. Okay. So you know its history. And I presume it hasn't had any Yeah. We serviced it. The information I gave you is from our garage. Oh, okay. Even better. And, I assume it's had no accidents that you're that that you
know about. Not that we're aware of, sir. No.
It hasn't had any bodywork issues that we've been told about. So No. No. We're aware of what you look as is. Pictures. It looks fine. You you never can tell till you have a good look. Right. Okay. No. I mean, it's just come in, literally just come in. So, you know, it will have to go through its preparation and stuff. Yeah. So, you know, on the website,
I don't know what they priced it at, but it's all done from head office. Mhmm. Because when a a customer came in earlier,
the the price on the vehicle was £15,000,
but they said no. It's 13 online 14 online. So I went, oh, well, whatever it's detailed online is what we sell it for because we we, we we go from head offices update.
I understand. I understand. Okay. And you said you got a couple of people test driving it tomorrow already, have you?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we've had a lot of customers in today. Polo's are very popular. I think you've sold three. Really? But, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We sold a lot online. We sales one to a customer in London, one in Joster,
and, another couple are coming back,
from, slightly further afield as well. So, you know, the Internet is how we sell cars.
Yeah. Yeah. People buy from the main dealers because they know what they're getting. That's right. Yeah. I mean, I used to buy cars, without seeing them years ago. I would prefer to see this one, but, because it's a mileage. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, everyone, you know, if they reserve it or they come and see it, drive it, etcetera.
So,
yeah. But, I mean, I I know the car,
you know, having gone around it earlier with someone. It has a slight scuff. Obviously, someone's either gone against something or rubbed against it,
on the
off
offside rear corner. Right. So that would need to be done. It's a smart repair, but, obviously, it's visible.
But, yeah, overall, it needs a good valet and, and go through all its preparation that we do just to get it to the standards that we hope our customers will be happy with. However, it will be a secondhand car, not a new car. Well, of course. Yes. Yes. Yes. One expect. Some people feel that they should be buying a new car I know.
Even though it's a couple of years old. But I know. I know. Yeah. All I look for is to to see if it has had any, you know, paint work or anything that it's, been properly done as much as anything. It hasn't had a major accident. That's the only No. Absolutely. Wanna know. Absolutely. Well, we wouldn't want that for our customers. We want you to be happy with what you buy. Yes. And likewise, that's the whole point of giving a year's warranty, not two or three months that, you know Yep. Normal sort of sales,
retailers do. But,
let me take down some details, sir. And then if do you do want a video on the car or anything like that?
Well, I I've got the pictures. That won't show me anymore than you've got the pictures with it. Oh, probably not. It's just it's just, you know, some people like it. No. Don't worry about it. Name, sir? My name is mister Wilson.

We had someone reserve one because we we're running out of automatic polos.
They came and drove it, but, actually, when they came, they they saw another color even though it was manual. The wife prefers a manual, and she won the
the the the, you know, the battle with the husband, and they ended up swapping for that. So, yeah, you never quite know really, but, you know, that that that would be our preference. If if you were interested, mister Wilson, we can take a deposit,
reserve the car. It's all refundable. We're a main dealer, and that way no one else can buy it. But,
it's gonna get interest as the cheapest Polo in our group stock at the moment of that sort of age. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. It's it's there for a reason. Yeah. So what what time are people test driving tomorrow?
Well, I there's six of us selling here today, and I know a colleague of mine, but I'm not quite sure what time.

he's got it booked in. If I said midday, I might be wrong, but, yeah, something like that. Okay. Alright. Well, I've got But it it's, yeah, it's not the only people. We've had others come around and look at that car and a couple of others that have had a price,
reduction, obviously, online, which we weren't aware of. But it it's certainly getting interest as they always do. Someone always will buy, you know, the car eventually.

But, yeah, it's a good car worth considering.
And, you know, do come back to me if you want anything else. Yeah. You know, we do our best to help. But, you know, Volkswagen is the main dealer, won best used car sales program last year, so, you know, they know what they're doing. Well, I I I bought my I bought, a secondhand Volkswagen a few few years back when they had the deal for two years free servicing.
So Yeah. Yeah. I'm not servicing two years warranty.
Yeah. Yeah. They occasionally do that from time to time, but, you know, they they don't need to do that at the moment. We're we're with not enough stock for the inquiries. So I know. I know. I realize that. Yeah. People are holding on to their cars a bit longer at the moment for some reason. Yes. Indeed. Yes. Well, the economy isn't,
that good for people. You know? They're they're nervous, I think.
Yeah. I spoke to them. Reason for it. Yeah. But, okay. Alright. Let let me have a chat. I mean, it I I assume
so that's 14,000.
If we're not doing a trade in, is there any, any support of room to to negotiate? No. Not at all, really. The prices are set, by head office.
People look at service plan offers. So £522
at the moment from Volkswagen UK gives you a two year service plan. Yep. Or,
so that that will save you a couple of £100. Yeah. We do have other things like smart repair cover,
tire,
protection cover, so, you know, to keep your tires,
and alloys looking good.
Parts repair is to do with things they discuss.
So, you know, we've got a variety of things that customers are interested in that sometimes their boss are able to negotiate a little bit on. But to be fair, there's not a lot to work with. No. No. No. No. I understand. Products are like a £100 a year for for something that's, you know, cost a lot more. It's it's on the basis of, you know, the law of averages who use them or need them. But, you know, they're certainly good value. In my past, I've bought them quite a lot of cars because I had a, a a help looked after a fleet of cars because, you know, company favor. Yeah. Yeah. I'm aware
of how What happens. Might work. Cost of it. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. One might be able to, structure a deal, let's say. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. Absolutely. And, you know, the the Internet sort of killed negotiating, really. Yeah. You're actually right. Yeah. It it does to some degree. Although, we did see one last week, and, we were able to get the price down a little bit on that, and then it still came out more than my my daughter wanted to spend. So we yeah. We're seriously in the market. Yeah. No. Absolutely. I think, you know, I I obviously, we like to do something, but, you know, there's just a token on each car that we sell, and it's it's really, you know, that it's numbers now.
Awesome. Not not individual cars anymore,
but, you know, we we we're certainly keen to to help if we can, and we'd always ask the manager if there is anything available and Of course. Any any anything to negotiate with at all. Yeah. Because CW give you targets, don't they? So you have to meet those. I I'm aware of that because the Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. All brands do. We went down to our local dealer and, last week, and,
we were chatting to them then. So Yeah. Okay. Alright. Let let me talk to her. I mean, the the I think Have a chat. Yeah. Yeah. I I don't think she's gonna wanna sort of put a deposit down without seeing it, unfortunately. I I we don't Well, whatever. I mean, it's it's totally up to her, but, you know, it's it's,
like all these things. You know, we've got 40 order salespeople selling the car that you're looking at, likewise, all our other cars. Yeah.
So, you know, it it it's a it's a question of you're coming a long way.
A deposit is refundable. It's a process. Yeah. So it's like, you know, wanting to get a pair of shoes in a size eight and that's the last pair. You put a you'd have to buy and we'll put a deposit down. Yeah. They wouldn't put them by.
